The Importance of CD Replication and its Many Uses

In the process of CD replication, copies of original CDs are produced in bulk within a short span of time. In the industries of movies, music and software, CDs need to be replicated in large numbers and hence this process is mainly used in the movie and music industry. Data, when stored in a digital format can be accessed by thousand users or even more. It is a very effective process for the production of large amount of CDs as the cost drops when the quantities increase. DVD-ROMs have a storage capacity that is 14 times more than that of CD ROMs. As a result, DVD replication is an excellent choice for large quantities of data.

How CD Replication is done

The process of CD replication is mostly performed in an industrial or factory environment. A master version is created from a source recording. During the manufacturing process, the discs are pressed with the data, audio or video that is pre embedded into the CD. If the requirement is more than 500, then a glass master and stumper is produced rather than simply pressing the discs. Replicated or manufactured discs will have longer life expectancy than burnt or duplicated discs. The process takes very short time and outstanding quality CDs are produced. When CDs are produced in bulk, the cost automatically drops. So, the companies give huge discounts if the requirement is large. In DVD replication, you can take advantage of the DVD format by including menus, chapter breaks, sub titles etc.
